February 28, 2001 the national strike of the businessmen was held. (photos)

The strike was held despite of resistance and counteraction of Free trade union Belorussky, state trade unions, and the state.

As for 10.00 o’clock of 28.02.2001 more than 160.000 businessmen and people working on hiring from all cities of the Republic of Belarus took part in the strike. The strike had its own peculiarities in different regions. So, in Grodno and Grodno region more than 90 % of the businessmen and people working on hiring struck. At the largest market "Southern" -100%.

In Minsk - more than 70 % of the businessmen, at Minsk "Dynamo" - 100 %.

In Minsk region - more than 60 % of the businessmen, in Brest and Brest region - more than 80 % of the businessmen.

In Vitebsk - about 60 % from six markets only two worked: at Smolensky - 70 % worked, at Polotsky - 40 % worked. In Vitebsk region - about 50 %. In Senno - 100 % did not work, Chashniky - 100 % did not work, Beshenkovichy, Gorodok, Tolochino, Uchachy, Shumilino, Dokchitsy,  Liozno 100 % did not work, Lepel - 90 % did not work.

In Gomel and Gomel region the strike was supported by more than 50 % of the businessmen.

The strike is organised by the Strike Committee of the businessmen of the Republic of Belarus with the main requirements:

1. Not to admit the increase of the rates of the fixed tax;

2.  To dismiss the chairman of the State Tax Committee of the Republic of Belarus

Practically everywhere where people were truthfully informed about the strike – the strike was supported by more than 80 % of the businessmen.

Taking into the account the circumstances which had taken place before the strike, it is possible to approve that it was a success.

The peculiarity of this strike was that circumstance that the leaders of Free and state trade unions began the open struggle against the strike movement of the businessmen. So, for example, in Gomel the chairman of the local Free trade union together with militia arrested the active workers of the Strike Committee who distributed the bulletin "Businessman". In Mogilyov, Vitebsk, Minsk and other cities people visited markets and told to businessmen that the strike is undone. The information that this strike is the pre-election action of Levonevsky practically everywhere and that it would give nothing to the businessmen was distributed. In other words the businessmen were deceived both by public funds of the mass information and by representatives from the Free and state trade unions.

Three reasons of such position of the opponents of the strike.

The first – these trade unions (FTUB) and "Sadruzhnosts" are today structures of the Belorussian Popular Front (BPF). The businessmen are said to act against BPF’s and Semen Domash (SD) their "unified" candidate’s coming to the office.

The second - the Businessmen invoked by the Strike Committee began to leave from Free and state trade unions as they have understood that they "are fleeced" by fees, and return they are given only "noodles" for ears. These trade unions, except for the protection of their leading bodies - defend nobody's rights. For example, why in Gomel are the largest confiscations and the most unprotected businessmen? Because Free trade union there has learned only to cut a dash and to collect fees.

The third reason, main is that the sabotage of the strike is directed to blow up the prestige of Valery Levonevsky as the candidate in the Presidents of the Republic of Belarus. Against him his potential opponents - structures hired by BPF were united.

This strike showed who really our allies in the struggle for the rights and legitimate interests of the businessmen are and who – toadies and traitors. Now we know them personally. Unfortunately, many businessmen who do not participate in the strike will understand the mistake only then when they should pay a large rent, increased rates of tax, pay certification and huge fines.

The Strike committee continues its work to create the businessmen’s at those markets where there are no our structural divisions. The struggle for our rights will be long and difficult. We are ready to this.

Question: At 28.02.2001 (the day of the strike) a woman made a speech on radio and stated that all businessmen of Vitebsk and Vitebsk region did not support the strike.

Answer: This application is a prepared provocation. The woman who made this application is not connected with the organisation of the strike. It is necessary to take into account the and declining years of this woman.

Question: Was the strike political?

Answer: No. The strike was interested only in the economic targets. The strike should show: whether the businessmen are ready to struggle for the rights and legitimate interests.

Question: Why some leaders of the trade unions tried to break the strike?

Answer: In March MW was increased, since March 1 the hardening on the certificates of quality is planned. Increase of the cost of rent of places is also foreseen. How is it possible not to admit strikes of the businessmen? To split them, to make the businessmen quarrel with each other. The first thing to do is to break strike. "Active workers" from the authorities visited markets and persuaded the businessmen not to strike. There are no strikes, there are no problems. Primary aim of a one-day strike is to show that there is a problem which should be solved. The radical opposition (BPF, UCP, Charter - 97, FTUB) decided also to finish with the "obstinate" competitor and undertook all possible to break the strike. Interests of the mode and radical opposition are coincided in this case. On their intention, failure of the strike is the shock at the politician Levonevsky. They are fool. They do not understand that strikes are carried out not by Levonevsky but by businessmen. Levonevsky only helps to realise strikes. The strike was a success but the idea how to realise it was different. And those deceived businessmen who still doubted to help or not the radicals, have made the conclusions. The converse effect was received. The businessmen have understood that having supporting the present Free Trade union Belorussky they supported BPF and contained the vehicle of FTUB which is not necessary for them. The following strike will be dedicated to the certification and rent of places. If the businessmen are ready the whole month since April 1 it means that there will be a strike with the termination of payment of taxes and other payments, if not, again it will the 28.03.2001one-day strike. If the businessmen are satisfied with everything, there will no any strike. The final statement belongs to the businessmen.

The militiamen will be punished.

As we have informed earlier 9.01.2001 the son of Valery Levonevsky - Vladimir (was born in 1986) who was 50 meters far from his house was arrested (he has just arrived from Minsk). Vladimir was by force, against his will, delivered to the local police station "Devyatovka", while he was been delivering to the local police station and in the police station he was searched, the protocol of the search was not made. The detention was executed by the militiamen Naumov and Ekimov who said to Vladimir that he was suspected in a crime: what – they had not explained. The protocol of detention was not made. In the police station he was forced to testify, the rights of an arrested person were not explained to a teenager. The repeated requests to call home to parents, to receive legal help were refused. Besides the employees of militia threatened to "put" him to prison and to apply physical force when Vladimir demanded to let the parents know about his detention and place where he was. Approximately, in one hour Vladimir «by the collar» was dragged out by the employee of militia from the police station and put into the car, then he was delivered to Leninsky DDIA of Grodno. In Leninsky DDIA they also refused to give him an opportunity to call the parents. Only in the morning, approximately at 4 hours, a militiaman informed the parents where his son was. It was necessary to search for the car and went through all city to take the son away from this DDIA. On actions of the employees of militia the applicable Petition in prosecutor's office is sent with the requirement:

These action of the employees of militia I estimate as provocation of law enforcement bodies against family of the future the candidates in the Presidents of the Republic of Belarus.

The answer from the prosecutor's office of Leninsky district in Grodno №10-2001 from 9.02.2001 was received. The prosecutor's office has established while checking that it is true the current legislation was broken by the employees of militia and the rights of the child were strangulated. The prosecutor's office of Leninsky district in Grodno raised the question to attract the militiamen to the disciplinary responsibility.

The accident

25.01.2001 late in the evening, approximately at 22.00, at the line Minsk - Grodno an accident took place. The car on which representatives of the strike committee and Valery Levonevsky, a future candidate in the President of the Republic of Belarus went from Minsks, after talks with the authorities came off the line, turned over and appeared in "a ditch".

The accident was contrived or such circumstances were now it is difficult to decide everything happened very quickly. All who were present in the care are sure that the accident was contrived. Valery Levonevsky himself thinks that the season "of hunt" on the future candidates in the president has been opened, but he is not going to come off the distance.

All participants of the accident are live and healthy and wish the same to everything.

The fat are cleverer
